Growing Organically

What does Growing Organically look like for you as a business?

As Spring continues, I am excited to announce my upcoming Spring Her-Barium Collection, which is inspired by the beauty of nature and the concept of organic growth.  My Her-barium prints are a new endeavor for Ron Nicole. It can often be scary sharing something new with your customers. You want your community to support it, but how do you get people on board? What if they don’t like it? Terrifying.

I believe in slow growth.  It’s not as sexy as chasing the big pay day, but it’s always been the better, more sustainable way forward for me. Any time I’ve tried to scale up too quickly it’s never worked out.

Slow, deliberate, organic growth will net you a better return on your investment down the road. And the community you build around it will have a much better experience supporting you. I know this, because it’s how I grew Ron Nicole. I’ve never believed in the get-rich-quick scam.  I love slow progress.  I love having time to lean back, reflect, and allow things to work themselves out. There’s liberating freedom gained in growing organically.  Organic growth is why I can leave Instagram and still have a flourishing business.

I believe organic growth is essential for any business to thrive, just like a beautiful flower needs the right environment to grow and bloom. Slow growth gives you time to shape your business around the natural you. In a series of blog posts, I will share my insights on growing a business organically, focusing on topics such as personal growth, building relationships, and providing excellent customer service. But this is not just for those who have a business.  This is for customers, too.  Keep in mind I’m not just a business owner - I’m also a customer.  Keeping track of all the businesses I have to utilize in order to run my business would boggle your mind. It boggles mine, lol. And we all have noticed the increasing lack of decent customer service. The more dependent we become on technology, the less human touch we seem to receive. We as customers are often left to figure things out on our own.  I feel you.  And it’s not okay.

As an artist who works with real flowers, I believe that there are many parallels between the magic of nature and the art of organic growth in business. It’s not a stretch to use flowers as metaphors to illustrate the principles of organic growth and to inspire you to cultivate your business with the same care and attention as you would a garden. My hubby, David, does all of our gardening, so don’t be surprised if we also share some gardening tips along the way.

I will be sharing some hard truths - including some that I personally hate to admit. However, I think it’s important for everyone to understand that none of us are perfect.  Don’t worry - this will not be a purity test, and there will be no judgement. Even if we try to do all the right things, the system we exist in is rigged against us. It’s hard to stay on track with organic growth because many of the decisions business owners have to make are done out of necessity (and don’t always align with our preferred values). I look forward to sharing my experiences. I also look forward to hearing your stories, and answering your questions.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far…

As a special treat for my Her-barium Community I will be offering an inside look into my process and how I make my art. Anyone who has purchased or reserved a print will automatically receive our “Exhibition in the Mail” Newsprints throughout the year with a look into all artworks.  This will start to arrive in your mailbox during last week of Spring.

Join me on this journey, and let's explore the beauty and power of organic growth together.

Feel free to comment with some challenges you are facing trying to grow organically as a business. I would also love to hear about the challenges customers face when supporting a growing business.  Let’s work through them together.
